Grants and Contracts

Introduction

The Grants and Contracts Support Team manages all aspects of procurement for the Department of Health and Social Services. The staff consists of trained and certified professionals with responsibilities in the following areas: Operating Grants, Professional Services Contracts, Procurement, Leasing, Mail Room and Property Management.

The Department of Health and Social Services (DHSS) provides a broad array of health and human services to the people of alaska through operating grants to non-profit service agencies, municipalities and natice entities. Nearly 100 grant programs encompass a broad sprectrum of services provided by over 250 agencies. Following is a link to the current fiscal year operating grant awards.


DHSS manages grants in accordance with: 7 AAC 78, Grant Regulations and 7 AAC 81 Grant Services for Individuals. Professional Services Contracts

The Contracts Unit is responsible for professional services contracting on a statewide basis. The contracts staff is located in Juneau. They procure, award and administer several hundred professional service Contracts on an annual basis.

Procurement

Procurement is responsible for commodities and non-professional services purchasesStaff located in both Juneau and Anchorage. Procurement is also responsible for internal mail services and property control.

Leasing

Leasing is responsible for managing space allocation and leasing for DHSS statewide. We have offices in over 70 locations as well as numerous Youth Facilities, Pioneer Homes and Public Health Centers across the state. All construction bids for DHSS are issued from this unit as well.
