About Healthy Alaskans 2020
Vision, Mission, and Guiding Principles
Healthy Alaskans 2020 (HA2020) brings together partners from many sectors across the state to improve health and ensure health equity for all Alaskans through shared understanding, united efforts, and collective accountability.
HA2020 involves Alaskans in communities across the state and experts from many fields in a partnership led jointly by the State of Alaska Department of Health and Social Services and Alaska Native Tribal Health Consortium.
Based on the latest scientific evidence around improving health, along with community input from more than 3,000 Alaskans, the HA2020 framework identifies 25 health priorities (also known as indicators). To help reach Alaska’s 2020 goals for the 25 health priorities, HA2020 is committed to:
- Provide regular monitoring of the indicators and making that information available to all via our webpage;
- Serve as the clearinghouse of strategies and actions identified by experts that will help us reach our targets by 2020; and
- Support health improvement work throughout Alaska by identifying and sharing resources and information around health assessment, health improvement planning, and evidence-based or promising interventions.
