The Office of  Children’s Services works in a collaborative process with community systems to insure protection of Alaska’s children and support to families. Maintaining quality of services and accountability within this system is a key focus of the agency. The Office of Children’s Services Continuous Quality Improvement Section is charged with gathering and compiling information to be used for improving service delivery.

The Continuous Quality Improvement Section conducts regular surveys of families who use the agency’s services. Surveys are also conducted of tribal groups, provider agencies, judicial members, foster parents, and relative caregivers. The surveys seek information on the interactions of the Office of Children’s Services with families and community groups to improve services.

Reviews of case records are conducted on a regular basis. A standardized instrument is used to measure adherence to federal and state practice standards. The information gained is used by managers to make needed changes to practice and to allocate resources.

The Continuous Quality Improvement Section is composed of professional staff with experience in providing services to children and families.
