Social Work class study brings new job titles to OCS
By Judith Hall
Administrative Officer II
At the request of the Alaska State Employees Association (ASEA) union, the state of Alaska, Department of Administration, has completed a job classification study on the front-line Office of Children’s Services workers and managers. A classification study is a job analysis-based review of the work being performed with the goal of updating and revising the job class series to ensure like work for like pay.
With the revised job class series in place, effective July 1, 2012, the titles of front-line workers and managers will change from Social Workers and Children’s Service Specialists to Children’s Protective Services Specialists (CPPS) and Managers.
With this title change, many forms and other documents will need to be revised. These are documents both inside and outside of ORCA.
This will not be a changeover that occurs overnight. Please have patience with us as we work to sync all the moving pieces and parts to reflect the new titles. This is essentially a change in name only. The duties and work provided under the new CPSS I-III and managers will remain the same. If you have questions about this study, please contact Judy Hall by dialing 907-465-3170 or via email at Judith.Hall@alaska.gov.
