DHSS recently announced that regulations for Child Care Licensing, Child Care Assistance, Child Care Grants, and environmental safety in licensed facilities including Foster Care, Assisted Living Homes, and health care facilities are available for public comment through June 30, 2005. An additional public hearing on the regulations is also set for June 20. The package includes changes to regulations for the Department of Education and Early Development and the Department of Environmental Conservation.

Draft regulations are available for review and comment on the DHSS Web site at: http://www.hss.state.ak.us/publicnotice/regulations.cfm. Several public informational workshops, listed below, are scheduled in addition to public hearings so that affected persons may ask questions and receive more information regarding the proposed changes. Oral comments will not be taken at these public workshops, but will be taken at public hearings scheduled after the workshops.

Comments on the proposed regulation changes, including the potential costs to private persons of complying with the proposed changes, can be submitted in writing to Mary Lorence, Alaska Child Care Program Manager, Dept. of Health and Social Services, Child Care Program Office, 619 E.
